A neighbor did happen to have a small wooden stage. Year after year, more and more people ventured onto it with instruments, voices, and courage—in front of a small but attentive audience.
As soon as children are welcome, there’s bound to be playing and romping around. So, “running around” starts as early as the afternoon. Whether it’s hide-and-seek, soccer, or Viking chess, Frisbee, bike rides, hiking, swimming, or badminton—the side activities were and remain important. For the camaraderie, the enrichment, the exuberance.
And every time, someone brings a friend, and they know someone else for next time…
